Things You Didn't Know About Me
I’m obsessed with Italy
If I could uproot and choose anywhere in the world to live it would be Florence, Italy. There is something about the culture and atmosphere of northern Italy that just feels like home to me. I love the Italian language so much that the first word of this blog is "Appena", meaning “Just” in Italian. I am currently teaching myself the language. It is going very slow, but I can at least have the “r” roll down.
I’m an INFJ
My personality on the Myers Briggs Personality Test (somewhat outdated but still widely used by businesses) is INFJ. I’m more of a diplomat than anything, and really try to view things from all angles before making a decision, which makes me a good researcher. One downfall of being an INFJ is I have to constantly push myself to let my ideas and work out into the world. Fun fact: INFJ’s make up less than 1% of the population.
You can learn more about INFJ’s and the other personalities out there here.
I wanted to be an archaeologist
When I was in high school I wanted to go to school for Archaeology, but decided not to as it is a hard field to get established. I ended up going for Psychology, and have a background in Psychology, Social Work, and Human Resources. I believe my educational and work background has helped me in my travels immensely over the years.
I have a thing for lighthouses
Ever since I was a little kid, I have had a thing for lighthouses. Whenever I travel to a new place, one of the first things researched is if there are any noteworthy lighthouses near by. If so, it's guaranteed I implement a trip to visit them in my travel plans. I love lighthouses so much, my husband and I had our ten year vow renewal at one on the coast of Maine.
I LOVE animals
When I was little my aunt used to call me the animal whisperer because I could go up to wild creatures and they’d eat out of my hand and let me touch them. I really enjoy helping and being around animals, and try to be outdoors as much as my schedule allows. I even have plans in the future to start an accessory line where proceeds will go toward helping specific wild life.
I also have two adopted cats, Kitty, and Mavis (pictured).
I really suck at styling myself
One of my big downfalls to getting cute travel photos of myself is lack of style. I rather run around in jeans and a t-shirt every day... and my hair? A losing battle when I try to do it myself. Seriously, if I could have a stylist with me 24/7, I would.
My favorite season is fall
There is something magical that comes with watching Mother Nature’s finale. Walking in the woods while brightly colored leaves fall in my hair and hearing the crunch of frosted grass balances me more than anything else in this world. I appreciate every season, but living in Buffalo has given me appreciation for the last warmer days before the snow hits.
