A Stay in California: Sands Hotel
Sands Hotel and Spa is located in Indian Wells, California, which is in the Coachella Valley. You can find luxurious spas and numerous golf and tennis resorts in the area, as it is next to neighboring resort towns, La Quinta and Palm Desert. We picked this particular location because of its closer proximity to the southern entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and wanted a place to get pampered after a long day trekking around the desert.
The design of the hotel and spa was inspired by Morocco, which you could spot in the décor strewn throughout the hotel. While checking in, the front desk thoughtfully offered mint tea, which is also a customary gesture in Morocco, and gladly taken after a hot and sandy hike!
The room itself was spectacular. The space had an indoor-outdoor seating area which was well laid out. The outdoor section had numerous cozy pillows to sink into while enjoying a glass of champagne. There was a well-stocked bar with their own vodka. The bathroom had double sinks, a shower, and high-quality soaps to choose from, but the show stopper of our stay was the private outdoor tub. It was seriously the dreamiest tub! If anyone was looking for a bathtub for a photoshoot, this would be it!
The poolside was just as dreamy as the room. There were numerous cabanas to grab a book and hide next to the water, and staff that randomly checked on you and offered to bring drinks or extra towels if needed.
If you are looking for a place where you do not have to leave the premises the whole weekend, Sands Hotel has you covered. There is a nicely decorated spa on site that offers treatments with natural products straight from Morocco. After your massage, you can grab a drink and dinner at the insta-worthy restaurant, The Pink Cabana. This 1950’s Cali vibe was on par with the rest of the hotel, and I loved the oversized pink booth to sink into while enjoying drinks.
The hotel had top notch hospitality during our stay. Everyone always had a smile on their face, and jumped at the chance to help out, even coming to our door in the evening to see if we needed any extra towels or ice. When we checked out the next morning, the front desk had muffins waiting for the guests.
Overall, I recommend this place to individuals looking for a girls getaway or couples that want to slow down and unplug for a weekend.
